The Masters program

The Alyeska Masters Ski Club consists of alpine skiers twenty-one years or older who are seeking great skiing, and training to become better technical skiers in a fun, learning environment.  The Masters program is designed to increase technical skills through skiing, gate training and competition, if you choose to race.  Most importantly, you are in an environment with a group of people who really like to ski and have fun! Our program offers skiing for all abilities.  Coaches are available to ski with you, work on technical skills, gate training and racing.  The Masters Program offers group skiing to advance your technical ability.  We offer video coverage of gate training and skiing enhancement drills. Races will be video taped.  All video will be reviewed with a member from our coaching staff in the Sitzmark.  Even if you are not in the video it is an excellent way to learn more about skiing, so join us anytime.

The training season usually begins the last weekend in November and continues through March or the beginning of April. There are ten training days and eight races scheduled throughout the year, which consist of four slaloms and four giant slaloms.  For those of you who do not want to race, group training is offered for two hours on race days. If you would like additional gate training the Alyeska Master’s may train with the Alyeska Ski Club (fee to be arranged with the Alyeska ski club on a punch card basis).  Gate training with the Alyeska Ski Club provides an opportunity for midweek as well as training on the weekends when Masters training is not in session.

The social aspect of the Alyeska Masters Ski Club puts the finial touches on what makes skiing fun with this group. We meet each weekend as a group of skiers who are excited about skiing.  After a great day of skiing we meet in the Sitzmark to review videos of training and racing.  Thanks to the Alaska Brewing Company we will enjoy libations and awards after the races.  Members who are not racing are encouraged to attend.  There are five social functions (parties) that occur throughout the season (End of the Summer BBQ, Fall Potluck, Winter Potluck, Spring Potluck & Year End Awards.  All members and their families are invited to attend.  At the end of the ski season there is a Year End Awards Banquet & Dinner (fee included in your membership).
